Deadline for Entry is March 31, 2013
To celebrate the capture of a natural, environmental or cellular structure found in Light Microscopy, Edmund Optics is holding a photo contest for a chance to have the winning photo appear on an Edmund Optics Catalog. 5 Finalists will be selected with the grand prize winning photo to appear on an Edmund Optics Fall 2013 catalog.
Only 1 photo per research project can qualify to win the grand prize, although you may submit up to 3 photos if each is associated with a unique research project.
This contest is void where prohibited by law.

Your Agreements in Submitting a Photo
By submitting a photo(s) to Edmund Optics, you represent and warrant to Edmund Optics that (1) you are 18 years of age or older; (2) the photograph is original and does not infringe on anyone else's rights; (3) you own the copyright of the submitted photo(s) and/or have all rights necessary to provide the photo(s) to Edmund Optics; and (4) if you used equipment owned by someone other than yourself to take the photo(s), you have the equipment owner’s permission to submit the photo(s) for this contest. By submitting a photo, you grant Edmund Optics a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to publish, republish, distribute, reproduce, edit, modify, and create derivative works from the submitted photo(s) an unlimited number of times in any print, electronic or other medium, with no attribution to you, all in Edmund Optics' sole discretion. In addition, by submitting a photo you agree to indemnify and defend Edmund Optics from any claims based on any and all use of the submitted photo.
How Do I Enter?
To enter the contest, simply upload your photo(s) at http://laserfocusworld.upickem.net/engine/Registration.aspx?contestid=84500 or http://www.edmundoptics.com/facebook and complete the online entry information form. (The form requests information about you, your employer or university, the photo(s) you are submitting and the equipment you used to take the photos.) Photos must be in JPEG format and are recommended to have a file size of at least 3MB and no more than 100MB. Please submit the highest quality image possible that complies with the file size limitations. Unaltered photos only, no-post processing.
SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE MARCH 31, 2013.

Who Will Win the Contest?
Entries will be judged on: Originality of the photo, microscopy technique used, visual impact and technical importance. Selection of 5 finalists with be chosen by an Edmund Optics selection committee with full discretion to select the best photos. Winning photo will be selected by online voting where the image receiving the most votes will be declared the winner. Edmund Optics reserves the right to reject any submission if, in its sole discretion, it deems the photo to be inappropriate or otherwise not consistent with Edmund Optics’ image or brand.
Finalists and winner will be notified by email.
Before any prize is awarded, each finalist and winner must sign an agreement governing the terms of the prize. Edmund Optics may also require each finalist’s or winner’s employer or university to sign an agreement granting Edmund Optics the right to use its name in connection with the contest, the subsequent use of the photo and any post-contest advertisements. If (1) a finalist, (2) a winner or (3) a finalist’s or winner’s employer or university fails to return any such agreements within 5 days after receipt, Edmund Optics may, in its sole discretion, select an alternate finalist or winner. Edmund Optics may disqualify any finalist or winner in the event he or she is in breach of these Official Rules.
If a winner or finalist is unable to accept a prize Edmund Optics will, in its discretion, select an alternative winner based on existing voting or above mentioned selection criteria. Entrants further grant to Edmund Optics the right to use and publish their proper name, Business/University, City/State and County online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
Edmund Optics reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
Other Rules:
- Employees of Edmund Optics, vendors, and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
- By submitting a photo, you agree that Edmund Optics may contact you via email and postal mail about EO products and services.
- The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code, and the copyright therein, are the property of Edmund Optics. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
- Each finalist and winner, by acceptance of a prize, agrees to release all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.
- Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of automated voting will lead to votes being voided.
- The finalist decision selection of winner will be final.
